Afternoon Tea for Two Gift Voucher - Nationwide

The cream tea was average. Very strong coffee and scones were average. Tour of the Castle was good though.

My wife had a bad bout of IBS lover the weekend and I tried to reschedule the tea for the 14th. After six or seven phone calls were ignored and messages unanswered, I messaged head office of Slug and Lettuce and I was referred back to the same number. There is no email address. I have given up and have accepted that the gift is wasted.

This was the worst afternoon tea and venue that i could have chosen from the list of available places to use my voucher. There was no customer service. No one told us what was on the plate. The sandwiches and cake had just come from the fridge, so were very chilled. Poor selection of sandwiches, nothing inspiring on packet white/brown bread. Cream cheese and chunks of cucumber was the worst. The scones were horrible, value jam from a pot, cream had a skin on it, and still couldnt tell what the cake was. Extremely poor, slab cake, burnt with sugar on, some mini tart, no idea what, and something brown with glitter?? Tea was good and a second pot was offered. Overall it was a thorough waste of the 1.5 hour journey each way and days annual leave for us both. I would not recommend at all and feel a bit cheated of what should have been a nice gift.

Went very well. Plenty to eat. Had a goody bag. Did not need to book in advance.
