Afternoon Tea with Fizz for Two at Three Horseshoes Country Inn and Spa

I will not be returning to this venue, it was the worst afternoon tea I've ever had. I brought this as a treat for my mom and I was embarrassed. She chose the location as it was the closest one to home. The service was bad, the food was bad, the venue itself was lovely but not a setting for afternoon tea. We arrived and we could already see the food waiting on the side (uncovered) for us to see. There was several flies, flying around too which made the fact the food was uncovered even worse! I had tried to call ahead 8+ times to tell them that I was a vegetarian, but there was no answer. So on arrival I told the woman who greeted us. Which I was then eventually presented with homous on bread. Nothing more, nothing less. It tasted awful. The sandwiches themselves were not 'finger sandwiches' as stated on their website. They were stale, half cut up slices of bread, we had 4 each with rationed fillings in the others. The woman who greeted us was not the most friendly, she sat us at the table and asked if we would like coffees or tea and then she never returned after that. There were another two members of staff who were very friendly but again never returned to the table once they had given us our food/drink. At one stage I had to get up to go and find someone to ask if we could have more jam as they appeared to be rationing that out too. From where we were sitting we could then see the woman who greeted us standing in the open restaurant area eating food whilst serving, which I don't believe would be considered as following covid guidelines as she's touching her mouth and then serving other customers. I have also never been to a restaurant where staff are eating with their hands whilst working. The list goes on of the issues we had with this place, and it certainly wasn't worth the price that was paid ... Complete waste of money.
