Harrods Traditional Afternoon Tea for Two at The Georgian

Absolutely delighted with our afternoon tea at Harrods. Booking at Harrods was by telephone and was very straightforward. The person taking the booking was very helpful. There was a text reminder of our reservation two days prior to the event and when we arrived we were greeted and seated almost immediately. The food was first class in presentation, service, and, of course, taste. Everything was explained regarding the food content and allergens. They even gave us a box to take back any sandwiches or pastries so we could continue to enjoy the gastronomical experience.

Loved the live pianist and the afternoon tea itself was delicious. I think they were short staffed as service was quite slow but staff were friendly. Knocked off a star as they did charge service charge on the day, which has not been the norm whenever I've used a voucher for afternoon tea.

So I purchased this voucher for myself and my family member to go have afternoon tea at Harrod's. The experience was really nice, with The Georgian being mesmerising in person (photos do not do it justice). The food was really nice, especially the scones. I don't have too much of a sweet tooth so I wasn't a huge fan of the pastries, but the scones and jam were perfect and I think if you like sweets, you will also like the pastries. The tea was fab as well, just wish the pots were able to hold more as one pot was the equivalent of one cup of tea. This meant we had to request for tea frequently. The staff were polite and helpful. The only reason I am taking off one star is because we were left waiting for a bit in the beginning for both tea and sandwiches due to I think our waiter having ended his shift and having left. Another waiter did not take his place but the general manager eventually noticed we were not really being attended to and starting taking care of us. After this, tea and food came to us quickly so I really appreciated that. We were also disappointed that there was no pianist, so my advice is to avoid booking late on Sunday or Sunday at all for a chance to have the pianist there (not sure when they play but I assume busier periods are covered). Also big thank you for the birthday card left at our table to mark the occasion, it was a nice takeaway.
