Built in 1876 and converted from a royal hunting lodge into a hotel in the 1920s, it has been quietly winning guests over ever since.

Wedding gift
Arrived to a lovely guest lodge in the beautiful setting of Symonds Yat. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. A variety of things to do in the local area cycling,canoeing, boat trips and some amazing walks. Excellent food available.

Plastic foreign body found in main course of the evening meal.
Unfortunately the evening meal was spoiled due to having a large piece of plastic foreign body contained within my food. It was a large plastic cylindrical disc used to separate frozen beef burgers. Bearing in mind that i thought i was buying a "double welsh homemade black beef burger served on a brioche bun" , something that i thought would have been prepared fresh and not frozen. The manager of the hotel did say that he would make direct contact with you to raise the issue/complaint, to arrange a suitable refund. We actually paid the extra £70 for this evening meal, which sadly did not meet our expectations.

Lovely setting
We stayed one night at the Royal Lodge. Our room was spacious and clean with a fairly good view, we were in room 1 so did overlook the roof though. We had our evening meal which was really nice and breakfast was included for us and that was ample with an excellent choice. All the staff were lovely and polite and happy to help.

A lovely experience from dear friends
I have walked my neighbours dog for over 10 years . we have been friends and neighbors for over 25 years . My gift was a 70th birthday present from them. I was really delighted with the hotel and the location was spectacular' The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about food allergy's as a coeliac its refreshing to be treated with respect and not thought as a crank
