About the experience
Step into the forge for a truly distinctive blacksmithing experience for one and craft your very own pizza axe from scratch. Under expert guidance, you’ll shape, forge and finish your creation using traditional techniques, resulting in a unique and functional piece to take home. This immersive session offers a rewarding blend of creativity, skill and hands-on fun in a stunning countryside setting.
What do I need to know?
- Your voucher is valid for one person
- Available week round, year round
- Minimum age: 12 years
- Please allow five-to-six hours for this experience
- Weekends are typically busiest, so midweek bookings are recommended for a quieter visit
- A waiver form must be completed before taking part; this is sent with your confirmation email
- The forge is wheelchair accessible, including a disabled toilet; some areas have chippings which may be more difficult for wheelchair users
- Please wear long trousers and suitable footwear

Great day, lovely people, can't recommend highly enough
I did the 5 hour just for fun session and made a viking knife (which will be doing a lot of work on our cheese board). The 2 instructors I had, Benjy and Jean, were brilliant. Really patient and helpful, and worked really well with all the group to make sure we got the best out of the day. I'm really happy with my little knife, and already convincing myself I need to do the Cu Mai course at some point soon. Thanks everyone for a brilliant day.

Fantastic experience wonderful staff
We were lucky enough to have Chef leading us through it, though everyone there seemed awesome. It was an epic day, perfect if you like to get given a task and just get on with it without constant interruption / tutorials. It was super hands on but also the team were always around to answer questions. My mum absolutely loved it too, and she’s not exactly the hammer smashing type! Or maybe she is now :))

The process to activate my voucher was simple and I had no issues at all.
The experience itself at Oldfield Forge was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone.
I made a dragonfly, and was extremely pleased with it.
They are clear in their instructions at each step of the making and on hand at all times if you need assistance.
Impressed with how much you are left alone to make your piece, you can truly say that you made it!
Genuinely loved it.
