About the experience

Take your place in the famous wooden 'O' for a 50-minute guided tour of Shakespeare's Globe for two, as your guide swaps dry facts for brilliant stories. You'll wander a faithful reconstruction of the open-air theatre built in 1599, where so many of Shakespeare's plays first met an audience. Your guide brings the playwright's London vividly to life, from the original Globe's rowdy heyday to the painstaking rebuild centuries later. You'll come away with a fresh sense of how the Globe shaped Shakespeare's London.

Globe tour

Great tour with a very informed guide. We were on the 9.30 tour so it was empty and gave it more atmosphere!
Bede of harrow · 19-04-2025

Prithee, accept my praises

The tour of the Globe was a superb experience. The guide, Gerard Gilroy, was informative, entertaining and personable, and it was fascinating to see a play in rehearsal. The staff at Buyagift have also been most helpful in replacing a lost voucher.

Could have been so much more

I have worked in theatre a lot and was disappointed by this bare essentials tour, which involved hearing the history of the Globe (interesting and well delivered) from 2 different seating areas of the theatre. Nothing behind the scenes’. On a similar tour in Lisbon last year we went onto the stage and into dressing rooms- much more interesting!
Francebr · 09-01-2024

Really worth braving the cold

Despite our tour being delayed by the fire alarm going off and it being the coldest day of the year, our tour was really interesting and we learned a lot about the history of the theatre since it was first built. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pitched his talk at a level where everyone could understand.

Very informative tour, lots of interesting facts and concepts which I had not known previously.
