About the experience
Step into Derek Bransfield’s studio for a fascinating introduction to traditional glass making. After a safety briefing and equipment overview, the furnace comes to life as molten glass is gathered, shaped and coloured under expert guidance. Enjoy working alongside fellow enthusiasts as key techniques are practised at the bench. Create a paperweight to take pride in, then watch a glassblowing demonstration that shows what this craft can do.
What do I need to know?
- Our vouchers are flexible and may be used to select and book an experience from our range via our website
- Your voucher is valid for one person
- Available on selected dates, four or five times a year
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Morning classes run from 10am–1pm and afternoon classes run from 2.30pm–5.30pm
- Please allow around three hours for this experience
- The workshop is shared with up to seven other participants and is led by two qualified instructors
- Only paying participants can be accommodated in the studio
- Jewellery must not be worn and long hair should be tied back
- Wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty and bring a change of clothes if desired
- Minimum age: 18 years
- If you'd like to keep your piece, it can be cooled, finished and posted for a £20 fee
- All dates are subject to availability
