Have you always wanted to know what it's like to work as a blacksmith? At Oldfield Forge in Hertfordshire, that's exactly what you get to do. Visit this traditional forge and learn the art of this noble and skilled profession. Once you've received a briefing and you're all kitted out with the right equipment, you can get to work on making your own beautiful keepsake. A fully trained expert will be on-hand to offer advice throughout. Take a break for lunch and pack a picnic or choose to order some delicious food in the local area. Discover what it feels like to step into the shoes of a blacksmith. After a successful day at the forge, you can take home your own uniquely crafted piece of ironmongery.

What do I need to know?
- All our vouchers are fully flexible and can be redeemed against our huge range of experiences
- Your voucher is valid for one person
- Available week round, year round
- Experience lasts around five hours in total, with four hours spent in the forge and an hour for lunch
- Should you need additional time to finish off making your keepsake, you can spend up to an extra hour doing so
- Please wear fully covering, loose-fitting cotton clothing with old jeans or trousers and all jewellery, skirts, vests, loose cuffs are prohibited
- Long hair must be tied back
- Sturdy boots are recommended and leather aprons will be provided
- Minimum age: 16 years (under 18s need a parent/guardian to sign the personal information form)
- Please advise in advance of any health issues, however minor
- Wheelchair users are welcome, please advise at point of booking
- All dates are subject to availability

Fantastic Experience

The chaps at the Oldfield Forge were extremely welcoming and very talented. I enjoyed every aspect of creating something from scratch and the tuition was excellent, great mindful therapy too. I wanted to make two candle sticks and am very proud of the achievement.
Would thoroughly recommend the experience and especially at Oldfield Forge. Lovely atmosphere, fab facilities and friendly faces.
It is a great birthday gift I shall never forget.
