About the experience

Special location
The castle was beautiful, very well appointed rooms with opulent furnishings. There was a wedding on at the same time so I put the slow service down to that however the staff were pleasant. It would have been nice to have someone in the reception room taking drinks orders (as we were told would happen) but nobody arrived. The actual afternoon tea was lovely, plenty of tea choices and the sandwiches were excellent

Tea was lovely but process to order voucher flawed
Had lovely afternoon tea at Thornbury Castle but process to obtain voucher was flawed. We used a £60 credit to purchase a voucher for Kew Gardens then subsequently booked a second voucher for Thornbury Castle and having insufficient credit happily paid the advised shortfall. All seemed fine until we turned up at Kew Gardens and were advised by the reception staff that the voucher had been cancelled. We attempted to resolve the position by chat with Buy a Gift but there appeared to be no understanding of the issue. We ended up paying full price in the day at Kew Gardens (having travelled specifically for the experience. Subsequent trip to Thornbury Castle was great fun slightly soured by uncertainty as to whether that voucher might also be ‘cancelled’. No idea what has happened to our residual credit balance and no desire to get involved with Buy a Gift again. Will seek vouchers direct with experience providers in future.

Very enjoyable afternoon
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience in lovely surroundings. Staff very attentive. Lovely sandwiches, cake and tea!

Lovely food
The food was very nice but finding the Hotel was very difficult as there is no sign posting for it. The staff were very helpful enabling valet parking as the car park area was a bit too far for me as I'm disabled. Very nice but I won't be repeating it.
