Nice meal, but not the steak!
This was a present from our daughter and son-in-law. We chose a starter that was very nice, corn soup with watercress. My husband had rump steak & chips, unfortunately the steak wasn't good, it was tough and chewy. The salmon fishcake with poach egg was very nice with an additional order of chips. The desserts a banana pancake and mango and coconut panna cotta were also very nice. The bubbly was enjoyed, all in all apart from the steak everything was good. Worth a visit.

Review - Gaucho
Overall the experience was good. I was not happy that the venue automatically put a 13% tip charge onto the value of the gift card. Food and everything else was really nice.

Rip off!
So we exchanged a gift voucher and paid an extra £44.01 to upgrade to go to Gaucho so in total the voucher value was £80. When we arrived we were given the ‘Buyagift’ Set Menu - not a problem however we were also given the main menu and told we could have anything from there but would need to pay for it - again understandable. We did then notice that the ‘Buyagift’ set menu was exactly the same as the set menu in the main menu however after adding the cost of the sparkling wine/fizz onto it, it would have worked out £14.10 less had we not have had the voucher, so considering we upgraded we feel slightly ripped off!
Also I don’t recall when upgrading the voucher that it was a ‘set menu’ which again understandable but it was very very limited.
To be fair the food was nice, however we were charged an extra .95p for our side of greens which should have been £5 but were charged £5.95 (waiter did rectify this), but staff were not attentive at all and we had to keep calling them over for drinks and the bill. We will not be going there again, and will not be using Buyagift for any gifts.

Gaucho three course meal with bubbles
The buyagift process was easy to purchase and emails very clear, and I had booked over the phone with Gaucho to book a table for the voucher. A buyagift.menu was sent to my email address ahead of my booking to allow for ease of choice however on arrival Gaucho had a very different, even more limited menu which I was disappointed in. I did also have to remind the staff that the voucher came with glasses of bubbles otherwise this was never going to be given to us. The food although simple was good so no complaints about how it was cooked. The setting in Gaucho is also good. Overall would not recommend you book the Gaucho voucher.

Treated differently because we had a voucher
Given a printed piece of paper to choose from. This included a glass of champagne, one of which was totally flat. Not a bubble to be seen!
Restricted choice of food. No vegetables. They asked if it was a special occasion. I said it was my partner's birthday on booking. They reconfirmed this as we checked in. Not sure why as other people had a happy birthday message written on their dessert plate. Nothing on my partner's. We had extra items on our menu. The waitress removed them from the bill. I then noticed a £10 menu entry as well. As we left the restaurant we queried this and this was removed as well.
Left with a feeling that people with vouchers are treated differently, although the restaurant obviously does a £10 menu and our gift cost considerably more than £10. Please remember that this was gifted by a family member. If the restaurant is happy to be part of these offers, please don't make guests feel they are in cheap seats.
