About the experience
Discover what life was like behind bars at Shrewsbury Prison. A former prison officer will guide you around the different areas of this fascinating building, whilst telling you all about its rich history. Visit the reception where prisoners were processed into and out of the prison and explore the Victorian wings. Learn interesting facts about the exercise yards, find out about the healthcare provided for prisoners and see where prisoners met with people from outside of the jail. You'll also get to walk in the footsteps of the officers on the landing and experience being locked behind the steel doors of a cell. Finally, you will head to the most chilling part of the prison, the executioner's bedroom and the execution room itself. This interesting tour is a unique opportunity to explore the depths of a real former prison and get an inside look.
