Steak and a Drink for Two at Slug & Lettuce

As the title suggests we didn't have a very good experience at the Slug and Lettuce, All was well until our food arrived, two meals were served as normal but the third, who we had added and paid extra for was deposited on their lap. This was obviously accidental but it was how it was dealt with by the manager. Our guest who was dressed smart casual as requested in the booking confirmation although the staff were in sports wear received a portion of chips and a jug of pepper sauce in his lap. The server was very upset, understandable,but the manager took over and didn't seem so sympathetic. That evening we were supposed to be meeting friends but as our guest looked like he had wet himself we needed to return home so he could clean himself up and change. When we were getting nowhere trying resolve the situation the manager asked 'what do you want '. She offered a refund, we asked for a taxi to return home as the embarrassing idea of going back through town, waiting at the bus stop and travelling on the bus home looking like you had wet yourself was unreasonable to us but all we were offered was a drink. The manager told us she had no authority to do anything else which I found rather unreasonable under the circumstances but she was very firm about that, so that was that. On the subject of the meal itself, not as we were asked, was cold by the time we ate it and the steak was tuff. The taxi cost us just over £20, we decided not to return to town, thanks Slug and Lettuce.
