On arrival the receptionist offered an upgraded room - bottle of wine, snacks and larger room.
Couldn’t check in till 4. The receptionist failed to give us all the information we required and that caused the issues we experienced-
We had access to the leisure club and day spa. Or so we thought.
Going to the gym we was told that we had to PAY extra £10 each due to not checking in till 4!
No one told us we could access the experience we had on the booking for the fire and ice. No one talked through it!
After gym we went the spa and was told that we only had access that day, we had 1hr before closing spa! Hydra pool was busy and unable to enjoy any spaces for ourselves due to sharing every part. The “fire and ice” was over exaggerated - it was a steam sauna and room with ice cubes! Definitely over booking this deal with the amount of people there.
We checked in to our upgraded room and it was not “a wow factor” small tv situated on a wall that you couldn’t view from uncomfortable “2 single bed”. “Bottle of wine” was a 2 glass bottle. Shower leaked and we wasn’t able to open the windows! The balcony was locked off. Our room was also right above the reception - noisy banging doors throughout. Meal included was booked for 8pm. The service was excellent and food nice but not amazing. 3 courses felt rushed and of course “supplements to be paid nicer menu choices”
Next day after a poor sleep, we went to breakfast and then went gym, only to be told that again we need to pay £10 each to access due to checking out. The spa access was also denied without paying a charge.
Over all the hotel is beautiful and staff doing their job but the offer is not great. Extra charges make the “offer” not a deal.
We used the gym for a few hours the spa for 1 hour and ate a 3 course meal.
I’ve never known a hotel restrict access to using facilities only during the check in period.
Not worth the money and would have been better booking it any other day because the Sunday was so busy.
