Three Course Meal with Sparkling Wine for Two at Gaucho

We were gifted an £80 voucher and chose the 3-course meal for two with sparkling wine at Gaucho Birmingham. This deal was an additional £30, which shot up to £109.99 when I didn’t complete the booking process straight away. When I logged out and back in again, the additional fee went back down to £30, which I paid on my credit card. When we arrived at Gaucho, we were given a set Buyagift menu. This had not been made explicit during the booking process, so we had been perusing the main menu before our visit. This is how we came to recognise our Buyagift menu as being the same as the restaurant’s own set menu. Had we walked in off the street, that 3-course menu would have been £19.99 pp. Including the two glasses of sparkling wine which would have been, at most, £14 each. That makes £67.98, plus the service charge at 13% — an extra £8.84 — £76.82. Fair enough. But the additional £30 I paid? We originally believed this was a supplement, but it wasn’t itemised on our bill and the restaurant had no idea what it was. When I checked my credit card statement, it had gone straight to you. We’ve no idea what this was for, but it clearly had nothing to do with our gift. And it’s left us with a bitter taste.
