Best of Bad bunch
we have had several vouchers bought over the last few years and this was by far the best. up to now the hotels have been inadequate and dated. for this one we still had to pay an extra £205 to change the booking from evening meal to breakfast, when surly breakfast is cheaper than evening meal? we will certainly be making sure we don't get receive any more and would not recommend

A Gift with Options
After receiving a buy a gift voucher from friends to celebrate our wedding we booked the Holiday Inn given the spa and facilities available. We added money to the voucher to do this and stayed for 2 nights. The hotel reception, bar, restaurant area, food and staff were all great. The room and bathroom probably needs a refurb, but it was clean and comfy overall. The pool area and changing rooms weren’t great and need a clean and refurbishment, so the little extra we looked for when booking and paid for we didn’t really experience. As a location the hotel was ideal for what we had planned.

perfect location
Hotel is in perfect position for visiting Cardiff, The hotel is good. Breakfast very nice.The castle is just across the road and the town centre and railway station is a short walk away. would recommend.

Not worth the money
Was given this as a gift and. had to upgrade when we checked what was available. Chose this as most of the other hotels on offer were really poor in Yorkshire. Cant say it was good value when I add what our friends paid for the voucher to the money we had to add. Hotel was OK with plenty of parking. Standard Holiday inn corporate hotel with grounds and Bar etc. Two pubs opposite that were OK but TBH the hotel bar was about the same price. 5 mins in a taxi to the centre of York about £7 or there is a bus stop outside. Breakfast was poor on the first day as things weren't being replenished so no egg, bacon, glasses, cups etc tables not laid or cleared and it wasn't particularly warm either. Day 2 was better as the Hotel was much quieter. Room wasn't serviced when we went out for the day so had to ask at reception for all the usual stuff to be replenished. Noticed when we were checking the room as we left that under the beds hadn't been cleaned as there were cola bottles and rubbish from previous occupants. Would stay elsewhere if I went back to York and couldn't recommend these buyagift vouchers as you end up paying much more than if you booked elsewhere
