Afternoon Tea for Two at Rutland Hall Hotel
Lovely afternoon tea and very accommodating for intolerances, our only disappointment was we were not in the original older building on site. So the room felt like a large sprawling hall and not as cosy and intimate as we thought!

A great afternoon tea!
The afternoon tea at Rutland Hall Hotel was brilliant - a warm welcome from the attentive and friendly staff combined with really tasty food in really comfortable surroundings. The food was very good indeed and very generous portions - we ended up taking some away with us as we were full! The background music was very well chosen, and at just the right level to be clearly audible without being imposing. The only criticism is there was a noisy ventilation fan near where we sat, which just took the edge off the ambience of the room…..

Great Christmas Gift
We had stayed the night before and had booked the Afternoon Tea before we headed home. The meal was filling, fresh and tasty. In fact, we were that full we had to have the scones to go! The service was quick and efficient and the restaurant was very pleasant. Overall, very recommended. The hotel grounds overlook Rutland Water and the views are spectacular even when the weather wasn’t particularly great.

Disappointing
Anticipation wasn’t matched by the product and venue. From pictures showing tea overlooking the lake I didn’t realise we’d be sitting in a restaurant, albeit on nice banquet seating, but just a nice restaurant not a country house.
Quiche was OK but had this onion chutney at the bottom which also featured in the cheese sarnies. Sausage roll was the best bit. The white bread sandwiches were squidgy and sort of damp; you could squash them flat! Uninspiring.
Trifle was OK, just sweet really, and cakes were similar.
It was certainly not the quality meal I would expect from a venue such as this.
Overall a lacklustre and disappointing visit.
I don’t like to moan but have now decided people should be told.
Supervisor was lovely and listened to our comments.
