Spa Day For Two with 25 Minute Treatment and Afternoon Tea at Macdonald Botley Park Hotel

The experience was fabulous, my only concern on the day was we waited 10 minutes at reception and in the end I had to go and look for a member of staff. Then when we got to thye spa area again nobody was there to greet us and another wait for somebody to come.

Unfortunately this wasn’t the relaxing afternoon we thought we were going to experience. On arrival I felt they weren’t’ really expecting us but our booking was found. I had had to email the spa as I couldn’t get through on the phone to change our treatment but I had received an email in response to say that the change had been noted. We were shown through to the changing rooms, which were cramped and the lockers wouldn’t lock. On entering the pool area, we had trouble finding a chair that didn’t have a towel on. We noted that it felt cold in the air. It was time for our treatment which should have been a pedicure. We were called through and it was checked that we were having a massage, we explained that I had emailed and received a reply that it had been changed to a pedicure. So we were asked to return to the waiting room briefly before being called again to exactly the same room. We were asked to lie down on the bed which I thought was strange for a pedicure. The treatment was underwhelming and disappointing. It was brief and just consisted of a nail polish application and we told we had to have basic polish not gel. There was no foot massage, nail treatments or anything other than polish. We were probably there for 10-15 minutes rather than the 25 we should have had. We left and thought that perhaps we our afternoon tea would make ourselves feel better. We checked at the spa reception and were shown to the restaurant, where we found that we weren’t expected as our booking had only just been sent down. The tea was good and the food very tasty. The whole afternoon was disappointing and would not make us visit the spa again. Booking through the website was fine, it was just the spa that I would not recommend

When we arrived at location we were told they weren’t accepting but shift anymore as they don’t get paid etc, I wasn’t happy as this was bought only a month ago. We did get the day eventually but this put a negative spin on it and as it was a present for my daughters 18th it was a conversation I didn’t expect to have , I was recommended Buyagift it made me feel second class as opposed to those that had booked direct. I would be hesitant to book through a 3 rd party again, plus the venue was very tired and run down some I wouldn’t go back there again
