Very old and had lots of character

Nice weekend away
We had a great time however there were some issues. Our heating was broken in our room. It was fine when we were sleeping but very cold getting ready to go out for dinner. Room was ok, as expected but does need some updating.
Breakfast was ok small hot food option and continental option. Everything was help yourself including tea and coffee.
Parking isn't included and costs £10.

Disappointing
Our main concern before going to the hotel was noise due to wedding receptions, but this was not an issue as we had requested a quiet room and although there was a wedding reception our room was quiet. We had a twin room and one of the beds had a very lumpy uncomfortable mattress. The shower was not very powerful and the water was not hot enough. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and were disappointed with the quality of the over-priced food. The two slices of sourdough toast served with the duck pate were over-toasted and insufficient in quantity. The Cheddar and Brie in the cheese platter were tasteless. The service was excellent however. The self-service breakfast was fine with plenty of choice.
