We arrived a little early so tried to order a drink from the bar while we waited. We were told it was table service only, but despite being early they found us somewhere to sit. They were very busy and we waited a long time to be served but eventually they brought our drinks to our table. By then we were at our allocated time slot for our cream tea to be served and after another wait, they brought the Prosecco and the pots of tea & coffee which meant we didn’t really need our ordered drinks by then!! There was another long wait so the hot drinks went cold by the time the food was finally brought out. They did however bring us a top up of coffee & tea! The small cakes and sandwiches were delicious, but there was a hair in the ‘quiche’ and the scones were so hard they were inedible, so sadly we didn’t get to try scones, jam and cream on this occasion! BUT, because of this, the management offered us the opportunity to go back at a later date for another plate of scones, cream & jam. The place itself is a hidden gem that I didn’t know was in the park and the food coming out of the kitchen looked lovely. Prices from the menu were reasonable, the staff were friendly and polite & I will go back to give The Palm Court Pavillion another go. Fingers crossed this poor experience was a one off. We’ve not yet had our replacement scones, cream & jam but I hope I can update my review afterwards.
