Spend your stay in a cosy double room tucked away from the main hotel within a woodland cabin. After a peaceful night's sleep, wake up each morning to a full English breakfast. What do I need to know?

Not in a woodland cabin
We originally paid for zipline with overnight stay for my partner's 50th but the offer got taken off. Buy a gift added a bit more to our voucher. There was nothing on the site that interested us, so we've booked somewhere we don't really want to go to & looking at the reviews for chevin I'm not looking forward to going.
We haven't been put into a cabin, we are in the hotel.

disappointing stay
We booked a 3 night stay in one of the cabins, despite the windows all being open on our arrival the room smelt very damp, there was a slug crawling up the inside of the front door. the shower room had mold around the edges and each time we had a shower there was water underneath the flooring. When we pulled out the bedside cabinets to plug in our mobile phones there was a lot of dust, cobwebs and spiders behind them. Curtains had a lot of stains on them, walls are paper thin we could hear the people next door very clearly. In general the cabin was very dated and in need of a lot of attention. We also had an issue with the television which was not receiving any channels, some body came to look at it they had to get another remote to re tune it, this was only successful in finding 5 channels(no BBC,ITV,channel 4 or 5) we continued to report during our stay but nothing else was done. Breakfast was OK, we had the full English each morning, scrambled egg over cooked. on the plus side the restaurant staff were helpful.
We only visited the Spa once due to the very limited opening times for the hotel guests as part of the package, again the Spa is very dated and looked very dirty in places.
In general a very disappointing stay and not worth the money we paid. Definitely won't be returning any time soon.

Tired and grubby
Firstly the staff, the reception and bar area were all lovely. The area where weddings were held was gorgeous (we walked past on our way to the main building). But the woodland Lodge were stayed in was nothing like any of the pictures on the website. Tired, dated, grubby and neglected are the only ways to describe them. The curtains were stained, the furniture was tatty, the windows looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The bathroom had no extraction system and lots of tiny flies (maybe fruit flies). The small fridge was just freestanding next to the chest of drawers. The room itself was very small (not a huge problem) there was one chair under the dressing table/tea making area, it was also grubby. The spa facilities were only available free of charge between the hours of 7am till 10am and 8pm till 9pm. As those hours didn't suit us we didn't use them but from outside they also seemed dated. I'm pretty disappointed as this was bought for us as a present and we used it for our wedding anniversary hoping for a romantic getaway, sadly we were disappointed.
On the plus side beds were clean, breakfast was nice and the surroundings area is stunning.

Anniversary gift
We had a lovely stay at chevin although we were surprised how dark the woodland cabins were, we had to have the lights on at all times and the curtains shut as they were a bit of a goldfish bowl . everything was clean except the mould in the bathroom tiles which is probably caused by lack of ventilation in the bathroom.
Breakfast was included and we had an evening meal too , all the food was very nice but I thought the main meals were crying out for some veg !!
There are lots of places to visit in the surrounding area and the countryside is quite stunning. Ideal place for plane spotting as it must be on a flight path although not a problem as it is only in the day .
Really enjoyed our stay and we had a fabulous wedding anniversary.
