The Malvern Spa
The History of Malvern
Malvern's spa story starts over 400 years ago, when its natural spring water gained a reputation for purity and healing. By the 18th and 19th centuries, people were travelling from across Britain just to "take the waters", and the town built fountains, reservoirs and grand hydropathic hotels to keep up with demand. The water became so prized it even found its way to the Royal Family's table, a status it's held since Victorian times. Today, the springs and fountains are still there, carefully preserved as a nod to a wellness tradition that never really went away.
The Malvern Spa Hotel
The Malvern Spa Hotel opened in 2008, the first new spa to be built in the town since 1910 and it was worth the wait. At its heart is a 35°C, 20-metre indoor-outdoor hydrotherapy pool, fed by natural Malvern spring water, making it the only pool of its kind in the UK. Beyond the water, there's a full lineup of thermal experiences, a Sauna of the Senses, Herb Sauna and Crystal Steam Room, alongside ELEMIS treatments, holistic therapies and locally sourced food in the brasserie. The hotel itself is adults-only, AA 4-star rated, and designed with relaxation as the priority. Think polished Jerusalem marble floors, 33 boutique rooms styled in a contemporary Italian feel, and very little reason to leave.
