About the experience
You and your companion will get to join a long history of illustrious guests and residents at the amazing Appleby Castle, including Lady Anne Clifford back in the 1600s! You’ll get a spacious room decorated in suitably historical style and can freely explore this stunning motte and bailey castle with its Norman keep and attractive grounds. Keen fishermen will love the castle’s fishing spot below the weir on the River Eden and nature lovers will enjoy discovering the countryside around the castle and its estate. On the evening of your arrival you’ll enjoy a delicious five-course tasting dinner together with a glass of wine in the hotel restaurant.
What do I need to know?
- Our vouchers are flexible and may be used to select and book an experience from our range via our website
- Your voucher is valid for two people
- Available week round, September–June, excluding bank holidays and school holidays
- Evening meals are served daily during the summer but only on Friday and Saturday evenings during the rest of the year – please enquire for details
- A supplementary fee of £20 per booking per night will apply for overnight stays on Fridays and Saturdays during the months of June and September
- Breakfast can be added for a surcharge of £16.00 per person, a night directly to the supplier.
- Rooms available are Thanet (superking or twin), De Morville (double), Atkinson (superking) or Sackville (double)
- You can upgrade to a full English breakfast directly with the supplier

Not been yet and don’t want to go
I booked the hotel on the third attempt after getting the cleaner twice and told to call back.
Unfortunately I needed to amend the booking sent an email because I couldn’t get through no response, I finally got through to a very rude man who wanted my voucher number emailing again and told me I couldn’t book in July & August in the end I said I’d call back to rearrange a date.
I emailed the voucher number again but again heard nothing till I emailed again this week requesting confirmation that our booking had been cancelled which they did finally confirm it had on that day not the week before when is originally cancelled it?
After all this we have read reviews which are terrible and all say the same rude staff bad experiences which is upsetting as our Son bought us this as a Christmas gift and we really don’t want to go there now.
I apologize for the long rant but I have tried contacting you to see if it is possible to change the voucher to somewhere else which I did through chat on your website which told me to leave my number for someone to contact me which I did on Sunday and also sent an email but still heard nothing from you to date.
I have to say we are very disappointed and surprised reading the reviews you are still selling vouchers to Abbleby Castle

An interesting stay
The hotel was very good but we couldn't have our meal in the hotel so had to go down into the town. The grounds were not lit and luckily we had a torch as it was pitch black with two cattle grids to get over. In the morning no one came to make breakfast and we had to phone the manager to come and make it. It was a little disappointing as this was a Christmas present for my husband.
