Booked as a treat with a friend. The hotel was lovely and we had a large comfortable room with twin beds just as we had requested. All the staff were lovely. We enjoyed our treatments- choice of 30min facial or back massage. We were allowed to check in early to get to these on time - the hotel schedule the treatment times. We had a drink at the bar followed by dinner. We checked and were assured we could have any starter main and dessert from the main menu. There was no voucher menu. The food was delicious. Then we were presented with a bill for the whole meal which we disputed and it was reduced to wine only and then later extended to include side dishes. We were happy with that. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice. When we checked out we were presented with a bill for an extra £52 for dinner and told our voucher included only an allowance of £70 towards dinner. This was extremely annoying as we had checked before ordering and at no point was this mentioned. This amount would only have covered our mains and not the starters or desserts. I didn’t pay the additional amount as I was told it would need to be discussed with staff who were not on duty and they had my credit card details. So far nobody has contacted me and no additional amount has been taken so I’m assuming it all ok. It was a shame as we’d had such a lovely 2 days and this made us feel we’d been conned which soured it. Service charge is added on the total value of the bill including the food covered by the voucher, common practice with vouchers. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed a walk round after checking out.
