Spa Day with Afternoon Tea for One at Mercure Walton Hall Hotel and Spa 10596779

We had a relaxing time by the pool but were a bit disappointed with the afternoon tea

Our original day had to be rearranged at late notice as their pool was closed which was very disappointing for a birthday gift. The spa treatment was great but the afternoon tea was lacking that special feeling (they didn’t have any teapots and we had mugs for our drinks, the sandwiches weren’t up to usual standards)

I went with my wife as a gift. Lovely day was spent there. Spa area needs a bit of TLC, gym was well equipped small but good. Food was nice and the grounds were very pretty to walk around.

The grounds and hall were stunning and all staff were very polite and friendly all day. The spa itself needs a bit of updating, pool is rather small and only 5 loungers (different to the picture) only the sauna was working steam room was down for maintenance. The sauna was more like a cupboard only fitting 2 people in, unless you wanted to get real close with a 3rd person. We had access to hot drinks and water all day which was nice. Afternoon tea was lovely, we seemed to be the only people there for it. The only downside was the changing rooms, for some bizarre reason they swapped them round, they stuck pieces of paper over the actual signs. So in the female changing rooms there were no cubicles to get changed in and was rather small with a bench in the middle very close to other wen getting changed, only 1 toilet but several urinals and 2 showers. My husband said his had several cubicles and more toilets and a vanity area to dry hair and get sorted. It totally baffled us. Overall we had a lovely day and probably would go back just a shame about the changing rooms.
