One Night Break for Two at Peckforton Castle 1098501

Surprised my partner for his birthday. The pictures do not do this place justice, it is AMAZING! We had the best time and will definitely be returning, food was delicious, service was great and the room was huge!!

Great service - ordered the voucher and it arrived quickly. Rang the hotel and booked. Very easy to do.

THERE WAS A WEDDING ON BOTH DAYS, SO WERE NOT ALLOWED TO ROAM THE CASTLE. THE SPA WAS FULLY BOOKED SO I WAS NOT ABLE TO PRE ORDER A TREATMENT. THE ROOM WAS STANDARD. BREAKFAST WAS LOVELY.

I loved the castle. Felt very much like a princess for the night. The bed was amazing. Huge 4 poster bed with plenty of room and we had a roll top bath in the bathroom. The only downside was on the Saturday there was a wedding on which was quite noisy and once the restaurant shut at 11pm there was no where else to go for drinks as the other bar had been hired out by the wedding party for their exclusive use. So we just had to head back to our bedroom and chill watching TV which was a shame as we fancied going to the bar!! Because the castle is surrounded by countryside in the middle of nowhere you can't even nip out to other bars elsewhere easily! On the upside I really enjoyed my 'Birds of prey' experience which I booked and paid for separately. That was loads of fun and I would recommend it.

Peckforton Castle is a 19th century castle built in the Medieval style - it is a lovely setting and in very good condition, but it did feel a bit like a film set at times! It is obviously used a lot as as a wedding venue and for corporate functions and I Iam sure would be a great place for such occasions, but it did feel slightly odd for us being probably the only couple who weren't at the wedding! Our bedroom was in the tower - 140 steps! We were a little dubious at first, but actually liked it up there as the views were great and it was very quiet. Also the receptionist did offer to change the room if our aged legs couldn't cope with the climb! In fact all the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Perhaps the problem for us was that it was perhaps a little too stiff and palatial - we prefer something a bit cosier, but then that was our fault for choosing badly.
