About the experience
Travel back in time to the golden age of the Great Western Railway. Savour the sights, sounds and smells of steam as you explore this 21-acre living museum with trains dating from Victorian times to the 1960s. Take unlimited rides, explore the original 1932 engine shed and see magnificently preserved locomotives – you can even climb onto the footplates of some! See a surviving track from Brunel’s broad gauge, discover restored buildings, carriages and wagons and learn more about the development of railways and how they changed everyday lives.

5 Happy Kids
Lovely day out. Weather behaved. Took 5 grandkids age 2-9 all enjoyed although the two year olds were a little bit young yet. We managed with double buggy to negotiate stairs as there were two adults. (Stairs from mainline to Didcot entrance. Car parking was tricky with Ringo app so download and register beforehand for Julian’s car park. All in all a lonely day. Beautiful trains! A lot of history to be absorbed so missed out with a lot of littlies. Recommend for train enthusiasts and those who want a fun day out to ride on steam trains. Lovely staff.

A unique experience
Had a chance to see the historical railways infrastructure and the living experience of riding on steam and diesel engine trains. We enjoyed with our kids, wish it was accessible though

Didcot Steam Day
I really looked forward to this. The disappointment was that although we could have unlimited rides on a steam-hauled train, it was all too short. The distance was probably no more than 400 metres.
