Steam train afternoon tea

Whilst the train itself was authentic and the tea was ok the actual train ride was poor quality- it was a 15 minute ride, stopped for 30 mins whilst attached the other end to return to station then 15 minutes back. No view, wouldn’t buy as a gift and wouldn’t want to receive as a gift again. Shame

Cream tea good - train ride not so good

Cream tea was good, fresh scones & jam/cream was good, tea / coffee from sachets. The actual train was short and sweet - short as in 30 mins there and back, not a circle, literally there and back - so saw the same going and coming back. The scenery was blocked for half the journey by high banks and we didn't get a chance to take photos of the engine afterwards as the men took it off the carriages and moved it down the track.

Bought as a gift for my mother and father in law for their anniversary. They loved it! They had a cup of tea and scone which they enjoyed. They are both deaf and were treated just lovely. They enjoyed as it was something different.

The station had a cafe, gift shop and museum. All very well organised and manned with helpful staff. Train trip was enjoyable with plenty of tea and scones.

In awe at how hard the volunteers work - so pleased to see the the David Shepherd info room. Feedback to improve the customer experience- the scones were dry and obviously shop bought. I would happily have paid more for a bakery (home made style) one
