Family Steam Railway Day Rover Ticket on the East Somerset Railway 11824245

We had a lovely day out! The train journey was enjoyable and my little ones loved it. Drinks from the cafe were nice, we were able to picnic undercover which was great as it rained during our visit and the museum was interesting. The kiddies play area was a nice addition but as it rained we didn’t use it as much as we would have liked.

Full of enthusiastic volunteers, and so well maintained, a real treat to go on the steam train.

Such a lovely family day, very informative, accommodating and friendly staff.

Was an adventure

Despite the heavy rain that poured on the day. We had a rather enjoyable and fun day out! This is the place to go if your children especially boys love Trains!! A bit off the beaten track, if you drive then great!, We decided to go by train from London. Best advise is to book your train tickets in advance using the "Family and Friends " railcard discount. Let someone else do the driving instead!! Nice gift shop & friendly staff! Also a specialist train shop with old & new style model-trains, tracks etc at reasonable prices for you train lovers! Great day for all the family! Very close to Bath.... Lovely.

My wife I and took two of our grand-children ( a girl and a boy both aged 5) to Somerset to ride on the East Somerset Railway. Our train was hauled by a steam engine which brought back many childhood memories. It was also exciting for the little ones ; for them, seeing a steam train was a novelty. I particularly enjoyed the return trip where the engine strained to pull the carriages up a 1 in 50 gradient, making a wonderful sound which reminded me of the "age of steam"!
